The View Royal Climate Coalition (VRCC), is a small but growing group of residents who champion effective climate-related solutions and actively support our Mayor, Councillors and staff in their work to make View Royal as resilient as possible against the future impacts of climate change.

To motivate View Royal Council and residents to decrease energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and prepare for climate impacts in order to promote the overall health and well-being of the residents of View Royal.

The Town of View Royal Council voted unanimously to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, joining the growing number of communities globally advocating to prevent the expansion of coal, oil and gas by ending all new exploration and production. Just as nuclear free cities played a critical role in calling for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, councils around the world can help build momentum towards a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. BC is proud to be top of the leaderboard globally for the number of endorsements for a region!

From Charging Stations to Heat Pumps
The Town of View Royal has Level 2 chargers, as pictured here at the Town hall, and also one in Helmcken Centennial Park. The VRCC was also instrumental in encouraging Canadian Tire to install 2 DC fast chargers, which are now in place.

The Home Energy Navigator Program, a free program created by local governments, supports homeowners in retrofitting their homes to be more energy efficienct and reduce emission of harmful GHGs. Read more
Underground duct work is now complete at the Parks yard in View Royal in preparation for three additional EV charging stations, further supporting the electrifciation of the Town fleet of vehicles.
